Comprehending Literary Text: Character Motivation

Two passages from The Diary of Anne Frank provide the text for a study of character motivation. After reading the first passage, class members discuss the characters' motivation. As a check for understanding, pupils read a second passage and identify the motivation of each character in the selection. For additional practice, pairs of students could craft dialogues and class members would identify the motivations of the speakers.

Lesson Planet has helped me come up with more creative plans. It has provided me ideas to expand on to take my 7th grade math students deeper into the concepts.
