Comprehending Literary Text: Identifying Point of View

How does the point of view from which a story is told affect a reader’s response? The great thing about this resource is that the same incident is told from the first-person, third-person limited, and third-person omniscient point of view. After comparing and contrasting the three versions, class members are challenged to identify the point of view of three selections. Consider extending the lesson plan by having your pupils craft a short episode that they then relay from the three different view points.
