Crime-a-tography

Whodunnit? Investigators use chromatography to solve a crime! Half of this lesson plan revolves around a video that is most likely not in your possession, but the rest of the lesson can stand alone. Simply replace the video with a brief discussion on leaf pigments and how colors are present that are not visible to us most of the time. Then apply that information to the chromatography of ink. This is a classic, but clever approach to introducing future chemists to the chromatography technique.

Lesson Planet helps me search from such a large variety of creative and innovative teaching ideas from dedicated teachers. I am always looking for ideas to better teach my students and solicit the help of others in the education field. Many of the lessons guide students from concrete to abstract learning. Keep up the great work!
