Instructional Ideas

  • Give each group graph paper so that they can create the math pattern routine first
  • Great to do this activity at the end of the year, before holidays, or after state exams to give children an opportunity to learn through kinesthetics 
  • Younger kids can place tape with numbers on the floor to memorize patterns using skip count 5, 10, 15 (five head rolls, ten claps, fifteen front steps, etc)
  • Place exercisers in groups before they begin to avoid conflict
Classroom Considerations

  • Large space is needed
  • Projection and Internet to view the dance steps and music selection is needed
  • Expect loud, noisy fun during this activity
  • Make sure you have all of the materials listed on activity for each group
