Debate: Is Cheerleading a Sport?

Students practice the procedures of organized debate.  In this gender studies lesson, students investigate the perception of women in sports.  Students conduct research to form personal conclusions as to whether or not they believe cheerleading is a sport.  They use their findings to formulate organized debates based on their opinion on the topic.  Students practice debating with each other using the skills they discussed.
