Disappearing Drips

Young scientists study three different types of soil, and discover their levels of permeability. The types of soil tested are loam, clay, and sand. After placing a coffee filter in a plastic trap on top of a jar, students pour water into the trapped soil and make their determinations.  A good, simple, and effective science experiment.

Lesson Planet has given me more time to teach and plan thoughtful lessons rather than spending that time scouring the Internet for resources and just throwing study guides at students!
