This Discovering Pi activity & project also includes:
- Join to access all included materials
We are all familiar with the little symbol π, but where does pi come from? Introduce pi to your learners as more than just a number, but a relationship between circumference and diameter. Allow your class to measure different circular shapes available to produce a number similar to pi based on the ratio of circumference and diameter. The activity provides solution options and follow-up questions to use after the activity.
- This resource is only available on an unencrypted HTTP website. It should be fine for general use, but don’t use it to share any personally identifiable information
- Introduces the idea that pi is a relationship versus just a symbol
- Does not mention materials needed to measure; you'll need to provide measuring tape, string, or other materials for the activity
