Distinguishing Fact from Opinion in Expository Text

Strong evidence makes for a strong, persuasive piece of writing and supporting a stance with solid evidence is the key. But one example does not a good case make! Model for your learners how to test evidence with a short persuasive piece that tries to convince readers that youth sports are becoming increasingly more violent. Readers must decide if the evidence provided is enough to support the writer’s contention.
