Ellen's Elephants

Students study the e=/e/ phoneme in spoken language. They recite a tongue twister, make words with Elkonin letterboxes, and read Shelia Cushman and Rona Kornblum's, "Red Gets Fed," with a partner. They discuss words in the story to identify which ones contain the /e/ sound. As an assessment, they complete a worksheet on which they circle the words that contain /e/.
