Exploring channel change

Students identify and a channel change using historic maps and delineate areas of dramatic change. Then they predict where these changes might be evident on the landscape based on the most dramatic shifts in the channel. Students also use historic and modern aerial photographs to refine hypotheses and then, detailed topographic maps and Global Positioning Systems to plan field test.
