Exploring Prejudice: Visual and Literary Stereotypes

Students discuss visual stereotypes and search for examples of stereotyped characters in classic books by Mark Twain or Margaret Mitchell or by other 1930s writers of fiction for young people. Following their search for stereotyped characters, students rewrite a passage omitting the stereotyped character.
