Differentiating between fiction and non-fiction books is an important skill for young readers. The lesson presented here helps them do just that by having learners work together in pairs. First, a class discussion takes place where the terms are reviewed. Then, pupils get together and compare two books that are on the same topic (cats, for example), but are of a different variety. They discuss the books together, and write down fiction or non-fiction on a sticky note and apply them to the books. A good teaching idea!
