Figurative Language: Metaphors

I am an artichoke! I’m prickly and tough on the outside, but underneath the layers I have a great heart. After listening to a definition of metaphor, learners discuss two examples and then explain the similarities between two seemingly unlike words. For independent practice, consider asking pupils to craft an extended metaphor about themselves.
