First Ladies' Political Role: Fitting or Feisty?

Students identify and interpret with the political and public role of the First Lady by assessing the lives of all the First Ladies in terms of whether the First Lady's role was to "fit in" or to "push the envelope" a bit. Then they use the websites listed to research if the First Lady had an observable political role, what the First Lady's public image was, and if she enjoyed her position and why.
