Force, Friction and Washington

Young scholars learn about the intuitive meanings of Newton's first and third Laws of Motion through coin related science experiments. Students slide a quarter across a smooth surface and then a rough surface. They try to use the same force for each surface, and write their observations. They discuss their findings and relate the experiments to Newton's laws.
