This Global Issues lesson plan also includes:
Show scholars the interconnectedness of ten current global issues: the arms race, environmental pollution, unemployment, third world underdevelopment, terrorism, human rights, nationalism, natural resource depletion, malnutrition, and urbanization. Break kids into groups of three, each stationed at one of 10 pieces of chart paper around the room (one for each issue). The note-takers stay at the paper while a static negotiator ties a distinct color of yarn around his/her waist. A mobile negotiator moves around to determine connections with other issues, after which the note taker records the correlation and the two yarn colors are connected. By the end you'll have a good discussion starter about current issues.
