Do students spend more time watching TV or studying? Have your class generate their own data and analyze the results. Compute measures of central tendency and variability. Extension questions encourage your young statisticians to compare themselves to the class average as well as generalize results to include the entire school population. Included are instructions on how to use a TI calculator to compute the mean, median, extremes, standard deviation, and upper and lower quartiles as well as how to generate a box and whisker plot.
