This Groovin’ Through the Decades 1850’s-1940’s lesson plan also includes:

Groups examine the lyrics of these and other songs to find reflections of the decades in which they were written. Following a fishbowl discussion, individuals craft an essay identifying the song they feel best represents a decade.

Cons

The premise is an interesting one, but much more background information and scaffolding would need to be provided for learners to make connections and provide adequate support for the assumptions they are asked to make.
