Students review concepts associated with the rock cycle, basic geology, stratigraphy, geologic time, seafloor spreading, and plate tectonics before taking a field trip to Point Bonita Lighthouse in the Marin Headlands. Once there, they investigate the pillow basalts and draw pictures. They also investigate the sandstones found at Rodeo Beach.
