Hoot and Howl: Writing and Revising Halloween Poetry

After listening to Joan Horton's book Halloween Hoots and Howls (and others), the class generates vocabulary that inspires a Halloween poem. In groups and individually, they use word bank terms to create poetry. Includes a Seasonal Word Bank graphic organizer: useful in writers notebooks throughout the year (Copy and paste it to print.). The main lesson doesn't focus on conventions, but several links guide you to revision strategies that help learners refine their writing.
