How is a Crayon Made

First graders discus crayons and what they believe they are made of. They view a chunk of paraffin. the teacher tells students that paraffin is made from the same oil that is used to make gasoline for cars. They discuss how the increase in oil prices could affect the cost of wax crayons. Students read the book, "How is a Crayon Made." They discuss the machines that are shown in the book.
