How Much In A Cup?

Mathematics minors investigate place value with 1s and 10s. Learners fill a cup with their choice of single blocks. They pack them into 10s and then count by 10s and 1s to determine the total number of blocks used. Children compare and discuss why some pupils had a different number of blocks in a cup. The lesson plan can be adapted to kindergarten by leaving out the place value segment.
