Identity Questions: Mexican-American and African-American Quests for Identity in the 19th and 20th Centuries

Young scholars examine the identity issues of Mexican Americans and African Americans. In groups, they analyze the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Great Migration and how it affected each group. To end the lesson, they compare and contrast the two experiences and discuss.
