An old woman, lazy sisters, a respectful young girl, a witchy woman, a church meeting, a king’s son, a big hairy man. Put them together and what have you got? An Appalachian Cinderella story, of course. Class members watch the video, Telling Tales #13: Ash Pet, and guided by teacher questions, deduce that the story is a retelling of Cinderella adapted to Appalachian culture. They then draft their own 21st Century version of the classic fairytale.
