Immigrants and Refugees

Learners compare and contrast the terms refugee and immigrant. They brainstorm ideas and concepts about refugees and immigrants. Students role-play situations involving refugees. In groups, learners pretend to be immigration officers and consider the decisions the officer must make. Afterwards, students write an imaginative story of a refugee child from the perspective of the child or the immigration officials.

Lesson Planet has given me more time to teach and plan thoughtful lessons rather than spending that time scouring the Internet for resources and just throwing study guides at students!
