Tenth graders research information from the internet in order to create a spread sheet detailing the historical records of the U.S. census. Students collect population information for the following years; 1850, 1870, 1890, and 1940 to determine the total population of the state, the number of foreign born people in the state, and the number of native born people in the state and compare this information to determine which years had the highest immigration rates.
