Impact Craters -- Holes in the Ground!

Students work together to simulate impact craters in a lab setting. During the experiment, they determine the relationship between the size of the crater and projectile and calculate the velocity. As a class, they discuss and demonstrate the transfer of energy that takes place in the cratering process.
