Students explore the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the history of wiretapping and surveillance. Using a given website, they research and discuss J. Edgar Hoovers secret files, specifically the one on Eleanor Roosevelt. As a class, they debate the positive and negative aspects of wiretapping. Students write a position paper for or against the Patriot Act.
