Karyotyping Lab

Young scholars use a karyotype to determine characteristics of the "baby" created in the lab activity. In this karyotyping lesson plan, students analyze the traits and characteristics that can be determined from a karyotype such as the sex of the baby and particular traits identified by letters on the karyotype. Young scholars answer general questions about genetic diseases, traits on chromosomes and sex linked traits.

Lesson Planet provides plans that are a snap to personalize or utilize as is. Providing rigor and relevance the lessons are an excellent resource. I highly recommend LP for both the new teacher and the well seasoned pedagogue.
