Lesson 3: Comprehension Aids

Use primary source documents to help young historians understand the New Deal experience for depression-era Americans. The focus of this series of documents and political cartoons is the Tennessee Valley Authority; each source has a set of comprehension questions as well as more in-depth inference prompts. Use these as writing or discussion questions. The lesson doesn't link directly to the resources, however they can be found through searching the site. Get the sources together before starting the lesson with scholars, and consider printing them and conducting a document station activity.
