Lesson Plan 14: Art Project! Design your Own Book Cover

Now that your budding authors have written their first novel, they need a book cover to go with it! Show examples of other book covers, observing aspects such as positive reviews, illustrations, author's name, author's bio, and a summary. The lesson suggests having kids write their own praise reviews, but consider having them do it for one another. Once they have determined what makes an effective book cover, set them free to creatively make one of their own! This is part of a larger writing unit, and can fall anywhere during the unit you feel is appropriate.
