What good would a novel be without any conflict? November is National Novel Writing Month, so if your class is participating (or just doing some creative writing), you will need to address conflict. Kids start by recalling something they once wanted but had difficulty getting. Address internal and external conflict as you discuss responses, using some of the questions provided here. Authors apply these ideas to their own novels using a worksheet, which is listed but not provided. Find it easily online, however, as it is worth using.
