Create a Railroad Song

Fifth graders use the internet to read about the ceremony at Promotory Point, Utah to celebrate the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. After reading the material, they discuss the race between the two railroad crews and the history of the railroad. In groups, they create a railroad song and perform it in front of the class.

Lesson Planet does a great job in matching appropriate resources with the lessons I am trying to find. I need things that will make learning real, but at the same time, fun and interesting, and I can always count on Lesson Planet to provide that.
