Songs of the Great Depression

Students listen to and analyze several songs from the Great Depression period including "Big Rock Candy Mountain", "Brother Can You Spare Me a Dime?" and "Do Re Mi". They participate in class discussion, draw original comic strips, research historical and economical contexts and explore the similarities to current conditions in the U.S.
