Lifting a Lion

Students investigate lever, fulcrum, and work.  In this elementary school mathematics/science lesson plan, students read How do you Lift a Lion? And using a toy lion and a lever, students explore how much work is needed to raise the toy lion.  Students employ proportional reasoning to determine the force needed to lift a real lion.

Starting a new program means developing new lesson plans. I was surprised to see hundreds of lesson plans already created for my classroom subject. This gives me the inspiration I need to create my own. Many great ideas - a gold mine.
