Linking Length, Perimeter, Area, and Volume Part 5: Purple Prisms

How does the surface area of the rectangular prism change when you change the scale factor? This question is answered by young geometers as they manipulate the scale factor and observe changes in surface area through the use of an applet. This instructional activity is the last in a series that explores the connection between scale factor, area, volume, & surface area. Note: The link to the applet no longer exists, but this resource but can be found on the NCTM site by searching for surface area.
