Looking at Portraits

Students examine a different styles of portraits and artwork and distinguish them from each other. They discuss why artists make portraits or the different types of art that they do. They look at and analyze what visual clues reveal about the objects in a variety of portraits and pieces of art. By creating their own portraits and pieces of art and including visual information about their subjects they practice communicating through their art.
