Making Comparisons in a How-to Report

This guide sheet with exercises focuses on how to incorporate comparative and superlative adjectives into a How-to report to make your writing most effective and clear. To practice, learners insert the appropriate forms of adjectives given for each sentence in a paragraph; then they compose an opening sentence. They insert a comparative or superlative adjective of their choice in six sentences and, finally, use comparative and superlative adjectives to write an original paragraph about how to train an animal.

Hi, I was recently hired as a middle school science teacher in Newark, NJ. I received a call on a Friday and was asked to begin the following Monday. As a new teacher, and with only 3 days to prepare, I was really feeling the pressure. The school requires 2 weeks of lesson plans every Sunday, so I began searching the web for help. Thank goodness I found Lesson Planet. I still use the site everyday to form great lessons and activities for the kids.
