Do your young geometers know there is more than one way to make a hexagon? Using tangrams and pattern blocks, they experiment with various methods of creating new shapes out of other shapes. First, they use two triangles. Next, pupils put two squares together. For each, they draw what has been created. For the last question, learners examine two outlined hexagons and show two different ways of filling in the shape. This discovery-based lesson is simple and easily modelled.
