App Overview

General Information:

  • Tap the blue information (i) button in the upper-right corner of the home screen to view directions on how to use the app
  • The purple Past Issues tab lets users view previous issues
  • The green Upset by the News? tab suggests some ideas for how to respond when you feel upset by a news event
  • The red Parents tab provides information about the program and its developers

Getting Started:

  1. Register by tapping the purple button located in the bottom-left corner
  2. Tap a news story
  3. Tap highlighted vocabulary words within a story to see the definition and hear the word pronounced
  4. The blue Fact button provides an additional fact related to the article
  5. The blue Act button suggess actions users can take related to ideas in the story
  6. Related videos can be viewed by tapping the blue Play button
  7. Access an interactive map by tapping the Go There globe located in the upper-right corner of the screen
  8. The icons found on the lower-right side of the screen provide feedback options
  9. Play games and complete puzzles by tapping the blue Games icon
