As part of a unit on climate, this ongoing activity takes the kids outdoors to make observations along a selected walking route. They repeat the walk several times over a number of months and take note of changes that occur. At the end of the long-term activity, the class compares notes and discusses how weather may have contributed to the changes noted. If done in conjunction with the recommended lesson, Weather Where We Live, this is a terrific way to support the topic of climate.
