Before beginning Sophocles' Oedipus the King, readers complete a K-W-H-L chart, listing what they know about Greek theater and Greek civilization, what they want to learn, questions they have, and how they will find the answer to these questions. There is even a column on the chart where kids list what they have learned.
- Have individuals fill out the first three columns of the chart and share their charts in groups
- Create research groups based on what individuals lists as things they want to know
- The packet includes a rationale for using this prereading strategy, step-by-step directions, and a template for the chart
