Oral History: Keeping the Tradition Alive

Consider this one-day activity to help your English class better understand the importance of recording oral traditions. It requires web access to The Library of Congress' StoryCorps site, where young scholars will listen to examples of personal storytelling. They then complete an inquiry cycle of questions provided in the resource (Connect, Wonder, Investigate, Construct, Express, Reflect) in regard to storytelling. There are three suggested extension activities, should you decide to expand on the basics.
