Patterns in Counting

Students investigate patterns in counting.  In this patterns in counting lesson, students estimate the number of beans they can hold in one hand.  Students compare their estimate to the number of beans they could actually hold in one hand and then place the beans on a grid.  Students compare the beans on the grid with the tally on their calculator.  Students discuss the pattern and relationship between the grid with beans and the tally on the calculator.
