Pencil Measurement

The worlds of measurement is a very important one! In this resource, designed for 2nd graders, pupils get to explore measurement by using pencils, markers, and crayons. There is a discussion where kids make predictions regarding what would happen if they took all of the markers, pencils, and crayons and laid them across the room from end to end. Then, they actual measurement takes place. The estimates and real measurement are compared. The instructional activity is based on the Arthur episode, "Arthur's Lucky Pencil."

Carol G.
I just transferred mid-year to an art teacher position; it has been more than 15 years since I taught art. I needed some quick ideas to get started. Thank you Lesson Planet!
