A simple assignment for beginning chemists helps them get comfortable with the components of the periodic table of elements. On the first of two pages there is a chart with seven elements. Learners fill in atomic number, mass, and the numbers of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The second page is a vocabulary matching activity that results in a square of magic numbers! This is not an astounding assignment, but practical. You will probably want to cut and paste the problems onto a fresh document so that you can put your own heading on it in place of the creating teacher's information.
