Picking Poems Apart

Students practice analyzing poems by focusing on figurative language. Students determine the differences between metaphors, similes, personification, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, alliteration, and assonance. Students identify the figurative language used in the Langston Hughes poem, Mother to Son.
