Poetry for Sharing

Third graders look at illustrations in "Poetry for Sharing" in order to brainstorm descriptive words which they expand into phrases and similes. They work together to write a poem about the sun and moon. They investigate the use of rhyming in poetry and use pairs of rhyming words to write a new poem. Finally, they apply the use of question and exclamation marks.
