Problem Solving: Too Much or Too Little Information

Coach your mathematicians in determining the essential information in solving word problems. This problem-solving strategies activity has learners following a 4-step process guide that helps them determine what information is needed (and what is not) to solve a word problem. Once they have completed the first question, there are 2 more they complete without the fully guided steps. Encourage math literacy by having students write out the steps.

I have been able to find a variety of resources to meet a variety of needs. As a special ed teacher I need to continually find new ways of presenting the material and Lesson Planet always has many great ideas that have worked wonderfully in my classroom. It's especially great when I need to make a last minute change to a lesson!
