Putting Things in Place

Investigation is one of my favorite words! Learners investigate place value in the real-world using a story problem and a TI-10 calculator. They plan a fictitious class trip to a far off place, determine how much money they need to get there, then use their calculators to determine how many thousands, hundreds, tens, and single dollar bills are needed to fund the trip. Bringing math to life and making connections to technology is what this lesson is about.
